“Allah revelation to Prophet Muhammad other than Quran”

Abstract Of Title

In Islamic thought, revelation is used to define a special kind of communication between Allah and his messengers and the knowledge granted via this special communication. In Islam, when one says revelation, first Quranic revelation comes to mind. However, the prophet had granted other revelations than Quran in various issues from Allah, and these revelations were not included in Quran for different reasons. In this context, one should not limit revelation to just Quran in Islam. Most of the Islamic scholars accepted that the prophet was granted knowledge by Allah also through other ways than Quranic revelation, and this fact is dealt in the context of the relationship between the Sunnah and the revelation. Most of the knowledge which the prophet granted other than Quran were about worships, jihad-megazi, and virtuous deeds. Other than these three topics, the messenger of Allah was granted some revelations on some different topics, but they are very rare.Although revelations other Quran came from Allah, the prophet had delivered those to his ummah with his own words and they were mostly commands, negations and recommendations. On the other hand, revelation other Quran does not have a formal structure like Quranic revelation, and Quranic revelation differs from revelation other than Quran by its properties such as miraculousness of its wording, being worship of its recitation and not being permissible to narrate it by meaning. Because of these reasons, even though revelation other Quran and Quranic revelation come from the same source, they are different in their essence.
