IV ABSTRACT Ph.D.THESİS THE KNOWLEDGE AND IGNORANCE ACCORDING TO THE QUR'AN MusaBÎLGİZ Supervisor : Prof.Dr.Lütfullah CEBECİ 1998- Page Jury : Prof.Dr. Lütfullah CEBECİ The term of "Ilm" is one of key and central words in The Holy Qur'an. This word has a wide sense space. When we looke at the last message of The Creator, we see that all creation had been created according to the "tevhid", that is monotheism, and the Creator demand from human beings to arrange their opimons and attitudes according to the "tevhid". When we study the "Ilm" term of m The Holry Qur'an m a whollistic way, not m an atomic way, we find that There is no dividing between worldly knowledge and heavenly knowledge, between meterial knowledge and moral knowledge in the Qur'an, and it emphasizes on that all sciences and knowledge finally drive to the same point in spite of their diffirent tons. The opposite of The "Ilm" is "cahaalat", that is ignorance and it is one of important subjects in the Holy Qur'an. The Holy Qur'an, uses this term in a wider sense than known sense ignorance the divine revalation, to not attitude according to the revelation and wrong Knowledge about the revalation ave some of these new senses.
