Abstract Of Title
ABSTRACT EREN, Sadi, The Knowledge of Ghayb in The Qur'an, Ph.D. thesis, supervised by Professor Dr. Sadık Kılıç, 1994, pp.-. One of the most important qualities that distinguish man from other creatures is his interest to undersabd being with all dimensions. For example, man wonders how human beings were created as well as how other creatures came into existence. He contemplates his own future as he does that of the world. He also thinks his inner world as he strives to understand the secrets of the universe. He strives to understand God as the creator of the universe, and God's knowledge and features. The Qur'an sent to the people from the celestial world teaches humanity all the secrets of the gayb. The Qur'an draw attentions to the senses of ghayb. It explains how to understand the creatures and tells about their secrets. It tells about the future of man and the universe. It also gives examples to explain the metaphysical dimensions of man and universe. It talks about the angels and jinns, which are invisible to our eyes. It speaks of the reflections of the words of God in the heart of mankind. Thus, thee Qur'an informs man of what is beyond his sphere of knowledge, ghayb. It directs man towards ghayb, and rescues him from the captivity of the visible or material world. The Qur'an, as if, takes man to a flight in the endless sky of the universe. It, as if, lifts man from on the surface of the earth to the sky to introduce him to angels and jins in the vast horizons of the universe where he can see the secrets of ghayb. Hence, the present work amounts to an observation of ghayb form the Qur'anic pespective. In other words, it is, as it were, notes taken during a journey guided by the Qur'anic verses in the world of gayb.
