Abstract Of Title

The study generally consists of the processes that take place in theunderstanding of Quran together with the transition from verbal culture to writtenculture. Taking into account to formation process of Quran over comes intoquestion because especially Quran is a distinctive text which provides transitionbetween verbal and written cultures.In the first chapter of the study, giving information about verbal cultureand basic features of intellectual structure on which verbal culture depends,culturel structure upon which Quran text relies is dealt with. Some differencesbetween verbal and written culture that constitute basis in the understanding of theQuran were given place. According as this, the people who live on verbal cultureare societies that not yet discovered inscription, and depending on this, have notbookish culture.Second chapter of the study consists of an evaluation of The Quran?s wayof addressing. Especially in the context of verbal culture upon which in the firstchapter laid stress and verbal language used depending on this Quran text istreated. Because Quran is revealed to Arabians living in verbal culture, its a usualstuation that it conveys elements belonging to verbal culture and verbal languagein its expressions and styles. Some evaluations were made on undeterminedexpressions, repetitions, attestations and elision(hazf) subjects present in verbalnarration.The third chapter was allocated to being understood of Quran, as a textbehind which verbal culture is dominant. İt?s a usual stuation that there are somemeaning gaps from the point of interlocutors who lived after revelation period andfaced a completed and in a book form Quran text
