ABSTRACT IDIOMS IN THE QUR'AN Author: Koçak, Süleyman, Kur'ân'da Deyimsel Anlatım, Doctoral Thesis Supervisor: ProfJDr. Ahmet Nedim Serinsu, I-VI, 1-294. The subject of this study is the place of the idiomatic telling in the Qu'ran. In this study a method taking into consideration the data of the general linguistics, the knowledge of idiom and the concepts of the religious language is used. The subject and importance of the study, the method followed in this study, the sources and related concepts are all handled in tiie Introduction section. In the First Part, "idiom" within the frame of the Arabic Language is examined and their rhetoric and cultural value are brought up. In the Second Part, the Qur'anic idioms as the manner of the Qur'an and literary description form are handled, and their characteristic features, dimensions, goals and literal value are tried to be explained. In the Third Part, the problems, which the researchers and translators of the Qur'an may face, are examined on the basis of "idioms", and they are given totally to help readers determine them. In the End Part, the results of the study are summarized.
