Abstract Of Title

In this present study aiming to "Semantically Analyzing the h-k-m Roots in the Quran," the h-k-m roots have been examined via the semantic method. The study consists of introduction, two chapters and conclusion parts. Thinking that it would make ground for the subject to be better understood, some background information on the subject of the study, its aim, importance, and methodology have been provided in the introduction part. In the first chapter, the etymological structure of h-k-m root and derivations of this root are analyzed chronologically, and poetry resources in which this root has been used from the pre Quranic age, and post-Quranic age eras are also reviewed. Different meanings of this root used in different sources are determined and grouped according to their meanings and each group has been exemplified with more than example by referencing the sources in the footnotes. Following this, ancient and contemporary usages of this root are reviewed and a similar grouping has been carried out. In the second chapter, derivations of h-k-m root in the Quran have been traced and the meaning it carries has been determined by taking into consideration its context, words it is used with and the reason of revelation. Meaning groups are formed in accord with the previous groupings, and the h-k-m root and its different derivations are analyzed through the vision of different Interpretation sources. Thereupon, the verse in which the aforementioned root and its derivations are used and how they are translated in their Turkish versions has been examined, and relevant considerations and views have been expressed in the light of the data which has been gained through the first chapter by evaluating the comments of the authorities commentator and Turkish translations of the meanings.
