Freedom of religion in the Quran

“Freedom of religion in the Quran”

HAJAR SHAHEEN ALP

Abstract Of Title

This thesis most generally aims at establishing the importance of freedom of religion in a muslim society and the meaning it expresses and the requisite limit to stop while using this freedom. Religion is composed of three elements which can be summarized as faith, worship and morality. Faith is completely individual because it is a personal experience. Worship (prayer, alms, fast, haj?) are both individual and communal in terms of not only their fulfilment but also their effects and results. Morality on the other hand is communal to a great extent. Both faith and worship in the concrete do not directly concern other people?s rights; on the contrary, they refer to a total freedom area remaining only as individual-Allah relationship and excluding all outside interventions. The sole authority to judge and implement is Allah.
