Abstract Of Title

This study is a research into the analysis of classroom management behaviors of vocational courses teachers in the Holy Quran courses in Imam Hatip High Schools, using the situational pattern of qualitative methods within the frame of pedagogical principles. The research was conducted at the end of the 2012-2013 academic year in the city of Elazig. The working group for the research has been selected from vocational courses teachers in Imam Hatip High Schools in this city through the criterion sampling method which is one of the purposive sampling methods. The sampling group of this framework totally consists of 23 Imam-Hatip High School vocational courses teachers, consisting of fifteen men and eight women. Personal interview which is the method used for generating the basic data in qualitative methods has been used in the research. The interviews have been carried out on the basis of semi-structured interviews form. Additional or probe questions in accordance with individual differences have been asked at the end. In addition, while imposing out the views of the teachers surveyed, in order to explain the remaining points and to be able to interpret the opinions in question more accurately it has also been benefited from the observations made and the findings obtained from the documents used by the teachers in courses. In the study, the data obtained by transferring voice recordings into word processor and then being analyzed has been subjected to content analysis and described. The data subjected to content analysis has been coded. Then, appropriate themes have been created describing the generated codes in general. Some of the results revealed out of the teachers' views according to the findings obtained from the survey data can be listed as follows: While beginning the lesson in terms of model reading, teachers in the Holy Quran courses perform model reading themselves first, use materials such as interactive whiteboards, mp3 players and etc. to constitute model reading and want their skilled students to perform that model reading again at the beginning phase of the courses. Some of the methods used by teachers in order to involve the students in lessons are as follows; random involvement starting from the student who has a good reading level, involving students in the lesson by giving priority to volunteering students, by involving the students collectively and randomly in the lesson. Some of the undesirable student behaviors that appear in Holy Quran courses are; speaking without permission, not listening the lesson, unwillingness of girl students in special situations (who have their period) to read the Quran, attending the courses without having taken ablution, interfering with the reading of their friends or laughing at them. Some of the approaches of teachers against undesirable student behaviors are; warning, inclining to the different activities, asking questions, warning with low grade, trying to make a strong feeling by eye-contact communication, voice raising/indignation, making the students read again and again, and making them sit down to the different seats. Some of the factors that affect negatively the teaching of the Quran in Imam Hatip High Schools are; level differences between students, having crowded classrooms, having inadequate time, and not having course every day. In this research, some recommendations have been given for practitioners and researchers depending on the results obtained from the study.
