“Emotional intelligence in the Qur'an from the point of the aims of religious education”

Abstract Of Title

Religion plays a positive role in development and protection of moral behavior and altruistic motivations such as benevolence, tolerance, fairness, patience, and commitment to God. Religion that have existed in modern life and throughout the history has revealed itself as a hope for people. Its moral values and virtues aim to gain the ability to control and recognize feelings and thoughts of people with the sense of belonging. In Islamic sense of education and training the starting point of religion are the Koran and the Sunnah. Of course, in the light of new developments in the field of education and training, new theories should be developed in order to take the advantage of the Qur'an ideally and make it the actual starting point of religious education. While our schools and culture attach a great importance to academic skills, the rol played by the emotional intelligence in determining the future of people is greatly ignored. This study, by identifying the issues related to emotional intelligence in the Quran, tries to reveal importance of these dimension in determining the aims of religious education.In conclusion, the human goodness that is the aim of religious education is also aim of religion which is the felicity of human begins. In this sense, there is a hormony between elements of emotional intelligence that is the subject of many modern research, and the Qur'anic recommendations that are appropriate to the human nature.
