“The role of waqf and ibtida in the understanding of the Quran: Ibnal - Anbârî, al - Dânî the example of Sajawandî”

Abstract Of Title
The issue of Waqf and Ibtida has an important place in Quran sciences and is also a matter of great importance in the context of reading the Qur'an both regarding the text and meaning. The term "waqf" refers to pausing the reading and breathing where the meaning integrity is completed and "ibtida" is starting the reading from the place that suits the proper meaning. Both terms have an important role in the commentary of Qur'an and uncovering the meaning and purpose of the Qur'anic text. This study consists of an introduction and three chapters. The introduction includes the importance, scope and purpose of the subject; information about used methods and sources used in the study. In the first part of the study, the historical process of diacritic marks put in the Qur'an has been summarized from the beginning of the revelation until the placement of waqf marks. Then we discussed the concepts, terminology and works that consist the framework of the issue. In the second part of the study, three important works written in three different centuries that are related to waqf and ibtida were methodologically analyzed and the classification was compared. Later we focused on the possibilities and limits of a new concept map. The third and final part of the thesis deals with the effect of waqf and ibtida on the meaning. In this context the similarities of punctuation marks with waqf and ibtida is mentioned and the importance of these marks were demonstrate with example verses. The conclusion reached in the study is the requirement of simplifying the waqf signs in quality and quantity. Another conclusion is the necessity of reflecting the waqf marks on the translations of the Quran.
