“The casual structures in the holy Qur'an ”
HASSAN SELİM KIROGLU
Abstract Of Title
Arabic, one of the oldest languages in human history, has transcended its regional borders within which it is natively spoken and has become the language of religion and literature for Muslims worldwide due to its status of being the language of the Qur'an. Moreover, the Arabic language—whether it be its vocabulary, logic, and/or grammar—has entered into a wide range of languages spoken throughout the globe. Sent as a guidance for humanity, the Holy Qur'an was first revealed in the language of the society in which Allah's Prophet Muhammed (SAWS) lived. Being a source of guidance, the Qur'an has besieged to be understood from the very first instant of its revelation to humankind. Those who believe in and who love the Qur'an, as a requisite of its divine command, have dedicated their lives both to reading and correctly understanding its meanings. Works, such as Me'âni'l-Qur'an (معاني القرآن ), Ğarîbu'l-Qur'an ( غريب القرآن ), Te'wîlu Muşkili'l-Qur'an ( تأويل مشكل القرآن ), and I'râbu'l-Qur'an (إعراب القرآن ), are among the those whose authors had the utmost desire to understand the message of guidance expressed through the Qur'an. In conjunction with such works, every known aspect of the Arabic language itself has been analyzed in order to further understand the Qur'an. Just as many works have been composed examining the Arabic language and its eloquence, so today are new works being produced. The purpose of the current study is to delineate the linguistic structures in the Qur'an which give the meaning of reason/cause (AR: سبب "sebeb") in order to contribute to the existing literature on understanding the Holy Qur'an. It is our hope that this study will open new horizons for researchers studying the Qur'an and that it will be a source of light for those reading translations of the Qur'an's vast ocean of meanings. Key Words: The Holy Qur'an, Reason/ Causal, Structure.
