The Incarnated Word (Jesus) in the Qur’an and the Narrations

“The Incarnated Word (Jesus) in the Qur’an and the Narrations”

Abstract Of Title

Jesus, The Prophet of God, as A “Word [Revelation] in Flesh” Mentioned
in The Qur’an and Hadith In this article, relying on the records in the Qur’an and
prophetic sayings (ahādīth) I analyze the Christian perception of Jesus as a “word
[revelation] in flesh”. Even though the records in question do not describe Jesus
directly as “the word became flesh”, I argue that the Qur’an and prophetic sayings
admit this description for Jesus in an indirect manner. In this context, I call attention
to the fact that these records describe the Qur’anic revelation itself and Jesus with
similar characteristics, such as ‘the word of God (kalimāt Allāh)’, ‘spirit (rūh)’, ‘sign
(āyah)’ and the like.
