“The Letter of Vav And It’s Effect On Understanding The Qur’an”

Abstract Of Title
One of the most important elements of language which is a mean to deliver the message
is prepositions. We can see their main effects by the usage of them with other words in
sentences and the determining of their real meaning is extremely important to
understand exactly. To be able to determine or not to determine the letter “vav” which is
one of these prepositions in which meaning it is used reflects directly to the meaning of
the sentence in Arabic. So it is an important matter for those who understand and
interpret the letter “vav” which has multiple varieties and in which verse and in what
meaning it is used. Because it usually cannot be determined easily in the context the use
of in which meaning it is used and it can be the reason of the preferences related to the
meaning of the verse that there are multiple possibilities. But the rate of the change made
by the differences of the preference in the meaning is not as the same in all. There are
meaning changes to be accepted as a reflection of the reachness of meaning and also
changes reaching at dispute dimension can be seen. In this study, with the motion of the usage of the letter “vav” in the Qur’an, it will be pointed out to both the contribution of
“vav” to the richness of meaning and to the effects on disputes. Thus, that each element is
important on understanding and interpretation and each element from the smallest one
to the biggest one shouldn’t be ignored will be tried to be emphasized.
