Abstract Of Title

In this study, the usage of concept mapping (one of techniques of alternativecognitive instruction in the religious education) is researched. As a part of researches todevelop materials in religious education our study aims to manifest whether the conceptmaps are effective when they are used in the religious education.The study consists of an introduction, and theoretical two chapters regarding toconcept maps and usage of them in the religious education, and an application chapterregarding to application of them in religious education.According to fact that every knowledge can be taught. It is also possible to teachreligious knowledge. However, in the instruction of that sort of knowledge there are somedifferentiations because of its internal special features. In the base of that differentationlies the fact that religious concepts are in abstract forms in general and there is much largeaccumulation in that area. Firstly that knowledge masses should be presented to student inorganized forms and teachers should transform abstract concepts into concrete in theinstruction of that sort of knowledge. This provides meaningful learning. One of thetechniques that can be used in this area is concept mapping.The concept maps are diagrams that are useful in showing meaningful relations inthe form of propositions among concepts. The distinct feature of concept maps from othergraphical organizers is that the features of relation are being written on the line betweenconcepts.As a result of obtained findings, concept maps contribute positively to academicsuccess of students in religious education.Key Words: Learning, instruction, meaningful learning, religion, religiouseducation, concept, concept map.
