“Abû al-Qâsım el-Balkhi's Approach to The Qur'an within The Context of The Tafsirs of Abû Ja'far al-Tûsî and Fakhr al-Dîn al-Razî”

Abstract Of Title
Abū al-Qāsim al-Balkhī, the fourth century AH scholar, is one of the significant representatives of the Baghdad School of Mu'tazila. Balkhī who has different works in many fields such as Arabic language, philosophy, history, fiqh, kalām, hadīth and tafsīr was called as 'the Imam of Mu'tazila group' by some people in his era. Since it is very essential to reveal the identity of such an exegete (mufassir) who has a multi-faceted character and a great influence on the formation ofboth Sunnī and Shi'i schools, in this study, it was aimed to determine the building blocks of Abū al-Qāsim al-Balkhī's approach to the Qur'ān and his interpretation of āyats referring to his tafsīr. However, since there is no direct access to the aforementioned tafsīr, this determination was made primarily based on the works of Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī, AbūJa'far al-Tūsī and ImāmMāturīdī, which convey Balkhī's views to our era. After examining these works by scanning method, Balkhī's approach to both Qur'anic sciences and āyats were determined and the parameters of his understanding and interpretation of Qur'ān were revealed.
