Abstract Of Title

The Quran courses were the only religious education institutions throughout the history of the Republic that have survived without interruption. Religious education in the Ottoman Empire was not perceived as a separate branch. After the Ottoman Empire, the perspective of the Republic of Turkey showed differences in religious education and education was formed into formal and non-formal education. Unlike the first years of education and training activities, Quran courses, which gained the status of non formal religious education, have the advantage of reaching out to individuals of all ages in the society. In this context, the research has tried to address the educational movements that the Quran courses have been carrying on since the day they were established. The concept of educational movements refers to teaching curricula and programs, materials, contents of materials; for this reason why the Qur‟an course tutorials and changes in the target audience are also within the educational movements. Understanding the history of the Quran courses is an important step in making institutional plans for the future educational vision. The Quran courses have maintained its role for a long time as an institution that continues to present time which is equal with the Republic of Turkey. It is an institution which maintains a tradition of education such as the teaching of the Quran, having a history of hundreds of years, as well as carrying out the role of non-formal religious education under a secular state. It is important to indicate the changes in history from a scientific point of view and to draw a portrait in terms of both self-improvement of Quran courses and determination of target behaviours towards the future.
