Abstract Of Title

Normally, each word is used for a single phenomenon and entity. However, due to a number of factors, the word may become meaningful, expanded or narrowed. In our study, we dealt with the concepts of taghut, shura, mustadaf and jahiliyya, which are among the concepts in the Qur'an, which had undergone a political meaning, especially after the modern era. While pointing out the usage of these concepts in the term of jahiliyya and the word of ignorance, we have revealed the understanding of the modern period commentators and Islamic thinkers after the first term commentators' explanations about the concept. Thus, we showed the meaning map that these concepts followed in the historical process by using the diachronic semantic method. Our study, which consists of an introduction and four parts, also pointed to the positive and negative aspects caused by the political concepts in the Qur'an, which was expanded in the modern era. Our conclusion is that many of the Qur'an-based political concepts used in daily life have expanded their meaning in the modern era and this has kept the muslims away from the understanding in the Qur'an's agenda. Key words: Taghut, shura, mustadaf, jahiliyya and extension of meaning.
