“The place of humankind in the universe according to the Qur'an”

Abstract Of Title
The purpose of this study is to explore the place of humankind amidst the entire creation according to the Word of God. In the first part of the thesis, we have examined the critical points of current knowledge on human and analyzed the various meanings of the Arabic word ?insan? (human) and its equivalent in Latin. Focusing on the empirical, emotional and rational sides of human, we have discussed the mechanism of human soul, pointing out the place of human reasoning in this mechanism. Pointing to the arguments whether the universe human beings are born in is neutral or laden with meanings, we have reminded of man?s venture of giving meanings to the things and beings in the universe. Referring to the vicegerency of human beings on earth due to the blessings of speech, rhetoric and intellect they are given, we have indicated how human beings contribute to the maturation process in the universe with all the talents and faculties they are given.
