Abstract Of Title

Movement and action is a reality seen across the universe. While Qur'anhighlights this widespread movement to the attention of man, it wants him to join inthis perpetual action and to produce useful and good works until the time of death. The work 'act' as a noun means action, work, deed, practice, performance andapplication. As a concept, 'act' takes the meaning of carrying out any purposeful andconscious works. Especially in human domain, 'act' takes on the meaning of all thegood and bad deeds of man.Good deeds include all acts of worship and behaviour, while bad deedsinclude all unpleasant and ugly acts and works. The later takes on various names.Although, pilgrimage, fating, prescribed prayers etc are listed best deeds, it has beenindicated in the Hadith that best of good deeds may take on different forms dependingon the time, place and the person.Whatever Allah commands is good and beautiful. He never ordains andunpleasant and ugly act. While sometimes we can comprehend the beauty or theugliness of a commanded and prohibited act, sometimes this may not be possible dueto limitations in our comprehension.Qur'an tells us that all acts of individuals are recorded by angels appointed toeach person in a continuous manner. It tells us that these records will be given to thehands of that individual in the day of judgement. People who are handed their bookfrom the right hand side will be of those whose good deeds outweigh the bad oneswhile those who receive it from the left hand side would have committed more baddeeds than good ones in their lifetime. Organs such as hands, feet etc as well as livingor non-living beings will testify and witness to the deeds of each individual ifnecessary. The Record of Deeds book of individuals who have left lasting works andlegacy behind them will not close with their death. As long as their legacy lasts it willcontinue its benefit. Those who turn to God may find that God would assist them incorrecting themselves and their acts. Sincere repentance may even turn bad deeds intogood ones by the resulting consequences.2Good deed of rejecters of God and those who ascribe partnership to God maynot receive any reward and benefit. On the other hand, God may forgive minor sins ofthose who act righteously and stay away from the major sins. Just as God would makecertain deeds look good by encouragement, recommendation and creating man withnatural inclinations towards these, Satan embellishes unpleasant and bad deeds byfocusing man's attention to the pleasant and pleasurable aspects of the deed.In the day of judgement, all deeds will be weighted or measured with aspecial instrument. The ones with good deeds outweighing the ad ones will be savedwhile those with more bad deeds than good ones will be punished. Just as God createsall existence, He also creates all acts. However, acquisition of the deed is by theperson committing the act rendering him/her accountable for the deed.Intension is like the compass of the deed, hence extremely important. Just asworldly deeds are treated according to the intention in worldly courts, Intension willbe judged in the Supreme Court of hereafter. While deeds and acts impact on the strength level of the faith of a person, they are not part of faith. Nevertheless, deeds gain value with faith with respect tohereafter and religion. As a favour of God, Qur'an gives the news that the good deeds of a personbefore entering into Islam will be counted while his bad deeds will be ignored. Moreover, out of the compassion of God, He will assign many rewards to good deedsand only count a bad deed as one.All deeds will receive their due reward or punishment in the hereafter. However, some deeds may see their due result in this lifetime. Not only everyone isresponsible and accountable for their own acts, but they are also responsible andaccountable for deeds and acts of other that they cause.
