“Examination of Ebusuud Efendi's tafsir in terms of tafsir methodology”

Abstract Of Title
The aim of this study is examining Ebussuud Effendi's tafsir (commentary of Qur'an), which was called as Irshadu aql-i salim ila mezay-i Kitab-I Karim (İrşadü'l-Aklı's-Selim ila Mezayi'l-Kitabi'l-Kerim), in terms of the tafsir methodology. The research consists with an introduction and three chapters. In the introduction, biography and works of Ebusuud Effendi and his tafsir were discussed. In the first chapter, the topics in context of history of Qur'an discussed within the context of Tafsir of Ebusuud. The second chapter of thesis dealt with topic of "applications of tafsir methodologies in the Tafsir of Ebusuud Effendi." This chapter also dealt with "the sciences of history of Qur'an," especially "sciences related to utterance and meaning of Qur'an," based on tafsir of the muffasir (commentator/Ebussuud Effendi). We also tried to determine the views and thoughts of Ebussuud Effendi on these issues. In the third chapter, we touched on some features of Ebussuud Effendi's tafsir and discussed some criticisms on this work.
