“Criticism Made to Clergymen in the Qurʼan”

Mazhar Dündar

Abstract Of Title

In the Qurʼan, the expression of religion gives authority to Almighty God, to force obedience, to ask for an account, to punish, and also it requires surrender and obedience for human beings. It is the divine laws that provide this two-way relationship. If divine judgments are exercised in society, it means that the society is subjected to the religion of God. But if the sovereignty of another element other than the divine judgment is in force, it means that Godʼs religion has not been adopted. The concept of “clergyˮ is a concept not found in classical Islamic literature.Throughout history, it has been observed that there was a very close relationship between religion and the clergy.Clergymen have been the main actors in the formation of religious tradition in society and in transferring them to the next generations through education. On the other hand, some people have left the religion and the book of Almighty aside and adopted the comments of the clergy. The clergyman class generally makes a negative connotation. Clergymen contributed positively to the survival of religion and their transfer to the next generations, as long as they remained true to the divine religion. However, since the subject of criticism of the clergy in the Qurʼan will be covered in our study, clergy who have a negative effect on religion;we will try to address the causes and consequences of this effect.
Key words: Religion, clergy, revelation, ahbâr, scholar.
